Gender equality will be used as indicator of westernization

Before the Women’s Day, March 8^th, the state media has paid particular attention to Belarus advancing in gender equality. Indeed, Belarus has been performing quite well in this regard. While preserving ‘traditionalistic’ views on family and marriage, Belarus does much better with recognising women’s social and political contributions than many of her neighbours. Belarus may use the gender equality issue in order to find mutual understanding in a dialogue with the West.
