(VIDEO) Press conference. Cultural protest in Belarus: repressions and solidarity
Honored Actress of Belarus Zoya Belokhvostik, writer Hanna Sevyarynets, philosopher Volha Shparaha and one of the leaders of Belarusian Culture Solidarity Foundation Siarhei Budkin will talk about how representatives of culture, literature and art are persecuted in Belarus. What does the cultural protest look like? How does the Belarusian Culture Solidarity Foundation help those representatives of the cultural community fired for their civic participation?
On the night of October 29/30, 1937 more than 130 representatives of the Belarusian intelligentsia were shot and buried in Kurapaty – writers, doctors, teachers, public figures, representatives of science and culture. Minsk will traditionally host a thematic event in Kurapaty, which may end in repression and detention of its participants.
Online press conference will take place on October 29th at 15:00 (Minsk time). Duration: one hour.
