Ukraine: Lessons for Belarus

On March 31st, a debate entitled  ’Ukraine: Lessons for Belarus’ will take place in Warsaw, co-organized by Solidarity with Belarus Information Office, Solidarity Fund PL and the Polish Institute for International Relations.

Experts from Poland, Russia, and Ukraine will explore how, and to what extent, recent developments in Ukraine could influence Belarus’ policies and her relations with Russia and the European Union.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • Belarus’ authorities, opposition and civil society. How might events in Ukraine influence Belarusian civil society, opposition and authorities? What lessons are there to be learnt? Can the events in Ukraine become a catalyst for change in Belarus?
  • Russia and Belarus. How might events in Ukraine influence Russo-Belarusian relations? How will the conflict in Crimea affect the situation in Belarus in medium and long-term?
  • EU policy. Will the situation in Ukraine change the European Union’s approaches within the Eastern Partnership?

Working languages: Russian and English (simultaneous interpretation will be provided).
