What will remain after election-2015?
In his opinion piece at TUT.BY, Belarusian political commentator Yury Drakarust analyzes the reasons why Belarusians go to presidential elections even if their result is somewhat known.
According to IISEPES poll in June 2015, 35% of respondents said that they would vote on the presidential election, and 37% said that they would ’most likely’ vote.
The acting president is popular among ’weak’ social groups - retired people, those with low level of education, and villagers. But it is wrong to assume that this is his only basis - he competes with opposition leaders on equal terms among ’strong’ groups as well.
The Russian side is grateful to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko for his decision to go to Russia as the visit after the presidential election, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov said in an interview with the STV channel, BelTA has learned.
“We are grateful for this decision,” the Ambassador said.
