Sovietskaya Belorussiya claims that opposition candidates lag behind in their collection of signatures

State-owned “Sovietskaya Belorussiya” covers the signatures collection campaign in support of the candidacies. The article starts with the description of the work of a signature collection point in support of the incumbent president Lukashenka – the author writes about 30 signature collection points in Minsk which gather 150 signatures in support of the incumbent president daily. Lukashenka’s initiative group already collected more than 500 thousand signatures (100 thousand needed for the candidate to be registered). Haidukevich comes second with 67 thousand signatures, but according to the representative of his initiative group they plan to reach 90 thousand signatures closer to the end of this week. Economist Tsiareshchanka comes 3rd with 60 thousand signatures, representative of Belarusian “Cossacks” Ulakhovich gathered 47 thousand signatures. According to state-owned “Sovietskaya Belorussiya”, the candidates from the traditional opposition lag behind not only Lukashenka but also other candidates uncritical towards the authorities.
