Opposition activists call to boycott ’farce’
Opposition activists which don’t take part in the current election campaign made a statement in which they called the first part of the election campaign “a farce” and demanded free and fair elections.
The opposition activists underline that “the elections in Belarus as a democratic institute of changing power are destroyed by the country’s authorities and are a false imitation”. The activists also called for new elections held by OSCE standards which would “make way for a civilized democratic development of the country”.
Those supporting the statement include United Civic Party’s head Anatol Lyabedzka, his deputy Leu Marholin, “Fair World” party leader Siarhei Kaliakin, ex-presidential candidates Vital Rymasheuski and Uladzimir Niakliajeu, and Iryna Veshtard from Belarusian
The Russian side is grateful to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko for his decision to go to Russia as the visit after the presidential election, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov said in an interview with the STV channel, BelTA has learned.
“We are grateful for this decision,” the Ambassador said.
