Euroradio correspondent spends a day with Tatsiana Karatkevich
Euroradio accompanied “Tell the Truth” candidate Tatsiana Karatkevich in her attempts to collect signatures in support of her candidacy in Minsk. Karatkevich visited two signature collecting points – one located in the centre of Minsk near “Centralny” department store, and one located in the mecca of the Belarusian IT branch – Belarus High Technologies Park. Near “Centralny” people mainly signed for Karatkevich and wished her success. At the same time it is worth mentioning that the youth in the centre of Minsk was much more passive than the older generation.
Near Belarus High Technologies Park mostly younger people signed for Karatkevich and made selfies with her. At the same time there was a heated dialogue between the representative of Karatkevich’s intitative group Siarhei Vazniak and a young IT professional regarding the tactics of the opposition on the elections. Vazniak defended participation in the elections, the young professional appealed for the boycotte.
The Russian side is grateful to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko for his decision to go to Russia as the visit after the presidential election, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov said in an interview with the STV channel, BelTA has learned.
“We are grateful for this decision,” the Ambassador said.
