Uralkali changes strategy on the potash market

Uralkali’s management announced plans to decrease the potash production in 2014 from 12 to 11 million tons.

Prices on potash are anticipated to go up; price-dumping practices, which were used on some markets to secure large contracts, will discontinue; both, Belaruskali and Uralkali will reduce their capacity utilisation; gain in production and chemical industry industrial production index will contract. The parties will continue negotiations on joint actions on the market, but their reconciliation is no longer possible due to different approaches to the vision of further collaboration.
