Salaries of Belarusians may exceed USD 400 only in December

According to the National Statistics Committee, in September 2015, the average wage in Belarus for the first time since March 2012 fell below USD 400 to USD 388.6. Wages fell due to the devaluation of the Belarusian rouble and persisting negative trends in the economy. Further layoffs in industry and construction are yet to come. In addition, retail turnover will decline, the competition on the labour market will increase, including in low-wage sector, and the population will increase overdue debt on loans and public services. In December 2015, depending on the year-end results, enterprises will pay bonuses, which will help to report higher wages – up to USD 400, however in early 2016 wages may fall back to USD 350-380 per month.
