BYR 5 trillion from state budget will be spent on priority projects in 2015

According to the Ministerial Council decision No 358 of April 28th, 2015, BYR 5 trillion will be allocated for the implementation of priority investment projects. More than half of the funds are intended for the modernisation of the chemical industry. In addition, substantial amounts will be spent to complete modernisation in sugar production industry – despite the fact that demand for sugar has reduced and Belarus would be unable to increase its production. All in all, the decision has most likely been pushed by lobbyists and does not meet the requirements of relevance and cost efficiency.
