Глава белорусского МИД Владимир Макей встретился с президентом Петром Порошенко и поблагодарил за помощь в налаживании отношений с Европой. Белорусское руководство также активизирует переговоры по организации визита в столицу Беларуси главы Святого Престола, что позволит закрепить имидж президента А. Лукашенко как миротворца. В отличие от периодических конфликтов между официальным Минском и Кремлем белорусские власти придерживаются бесконфликтной и дружелюбной линии поведения с западными столицами. Белорусское руководство рассчитывает на конвертацию оттепели в политических отношениях с ЕС и США в экономическую помощь от международных организаций.
